My Professional Life at a Glance
Consistent with my mission in life, I am engaged in consultancies that fulfill my passion and commitment to social causes and enhance further my knowledge, skills, and experience in development management.
I am a veteran community development manager, grant writer, researcher, technical report editor, and data analyst for more than 20 years. I have excellent skills and expertise in managing community development projects as well as in writing development concepts, project proposals, and technical reports. I am also proficient in biomaterials sustainability auditing, case study and participatory action research, project benefit monitoring and evaluation, participatory rural appraisal and community planning, training and workshop facilitation, community organizing and organizational strengthening, cooperatives development, and network building. I wrote and managed projects on coconut farm development, food security and nutrition, marine biodiversity conservation, sustainable livelihoods and social enterprise development, organic vegetable production, eco-friendly aquaculture, ecological mangrove protection and restoration, disaster risk reduction and management, fishery law enforcement, cooperatives development, and social movement building, As a former executive director of Trowel Development Foundation, I developed projects that won both national and international project competitions, namely: World Bank Panibagong Paraan Project Grant Competition held in the Philippines in 2008; World Bank Development Marketplace Global Competition on Climate Adaptation held in Washington DC in 2009; and United Nations Development Program Equator Prize held in New York City in 2010. The ISLA CORAL Program that was funded by New Zealand Aid was a world nominee and finalist in the Energy Globe World Award of Austria in 2017. |
I am proficient with Microsoft Office, can manage data on spreadsheets and make excellent presentations using the Powerpoint. I am also skilled in different research methodologies - internet research, survey, key informant interviews, and small group workshops, etc. I can do both quantitative and qualitative data analysis and communicate research findings in an excellent technical report. I can create and manage websites using the Weebly platform.
I've been a project consultant to Roundtable on Sustainable Biomaterials of Switzerland, Proforest of the United Kingdom, and Professor Furukawa of Kobe University, Japan. I am a holder of a BS degree in agricultural engineering and a postgraduate diploma in community development from the University of the Philippines. I also earned certificates in biomaterials sustainability auditing from ASTRA Academy in Madrid, Spain and Ecological Documentation from Nordic Folkhogskola-Biskops Arno in Balsta, Sweden. Aside from developing new projects and writing project concepts and proposals, I can help generate new funding for civil society organizations. I have access to information and year-round advisory on calls for proposals of international donors from the USA, Europe, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand including their program priorities, countries where they provide support, amount of financial grant, and timing of their calls. I can also build international connections with civil society organizations in Asia, Africa, Latin America, etc. given my network reach that I developed through my membership for eight years now in the technical advisory committee of the UNDP - Equator Prize - in New York. I am also currently a member of the Assembly of Delegates or the highest decision-making body of the Roundtable on Sustainable Biomaterials in Switzerland. |
